# Previous reporting-map QA — v0.17.0

The main v0.18 viewer now uses the separate MLB model library. This report remains an audit of the older reporting-map geometry. Use [MLB model integrity](MLB_MODEL_QA.md), [current model inspection](mlb-model-qa.html), and [every-stadium physical process](MLB_STADIUM_CHECKLIST.md) for the new viewer.

The Fenway false-dot defect is fixed in the modeled placement path. The full park accuracy review is **not passed**. All 30 models load and their data changes with the park; eleven currently lack usable outfield seating placement. No model has been certified to seat, five-foot or inch accuracy.

Use the [interactive QA workbench](stadium-qa.html) and [full per-stadium process](STADIUM_QA.md). All 30 have dedicated review targets, construction results and twelve required manual evidence gates. Source comparison and physical-device/video checks remain incomplete.

## Placement and construction checks

- Checked all 158,851 historical ledger events and the separate 62,557 Statcast-era analytics records. These archives overlap; do not sum them as unique balls.
- Historical archive: 46,227 modeled dots; analytics archive: 45,936. Zero drawn dots inside fair territory or before the rendered fence. Rejected geometry conflicts stay in the scoring records with no invented destination. The audit now applies the same confirmed Giants splash-hit evidence as the viewer.
- Checked 75,673 row polygons and 285 unresolved seating surface segments across 4,320 modeled sections: zero invalid surfaces, zero cross-section row intersections at the same level/elevation, and zero seating/bullpen/fan-zone footprints intruding into fair territory.
- These checks validate internal consistency with the current model. They do not validate its geographic correctness, historical renovations, tier heights, physical seat counts or net interception.
- The stronger audit flags **5,021 overlapping row pairs across 17 parks** with less than eight feet of modeled vertical separation. Earlier checks only compared matching heights/levels and missed these. They are collision candidates requiring physical inspection; eight feet is a conservative screening choice, not a certified structural standard.
- Browser checks: all 30 at 390 × 844, 2026 record counts, top-down phone views and geometry fingerprints matching the reporting meshes. No page overflow or console errors observed. Geometry fingerprints also invalidate stale landing/manual evidence if coordinates change without changing the edition. Details are in `data/qa-v0.17/browser-models.json`; earlier model captures remain in `park-N.jpg`.

## Every park

“Pending” means the model still needs independent diagram/photo measurements. “Missing outfield” is a launch blocker for seat recommendations, not a finding that HRs do not reach the stands.

## Repairs made in this pass

- Seattle: replaced unfolded chart warping and fixed deck insets with separately registered physical floor-plan traces. Paired bank corners preserve premium/main separation. Corrected Cantina side, full bullpen pitching lanes, cafe footprint and concourse/suite geometry. Close-row candidates fell from 233 to zero. See SEATTLE_REBUILD.md; physical measurements and video holdout remain pending.
- Fenway: fair-side bearing requirement, actual fence crossing/distance guard, wall clearance check, and no seating intersection before the fence. A scored HR can remain unmapped if the public bearing/distance/curve disagrees with the model. Video can resolve those records.
- Oracle: LF bleachers follow the wall’s intermediate bend instead of a chord that crossed the field.
- Nationals: stop the generic bullpen footprint extending across a short wall notch.
- Rogers Centre and other unresolved bowls: tessellate coarse areas along the seating perimeter instead of drawing a chord across the field. Keep unknown rows empty. Seattle’s Hit It Here Cafe uses its own chart footprint rather than the club ribbon’s inward offset.
- Actual observed catch/final locations remain independent: a ball can bounce back to the field after first clearing the fence.

## Other requested work

- Map-first reporter: tap an area, answer source and catch/bounce questions, optionally identify a row or add evidence. After a bounce, mark the final spot without repeating the first questions.
- Isolated account UI QA: register, mark separate F42/F43 spots, save private draft, reload/restore, submit one report, preserve unknown row, show zero premature points, save home park, and revoke all sessions. Synthetic data is only in `data/private/qa-v0.16.sqlite`; it never enters the normal database.
- Mobile: phone-size map dialog and viewer, no horizontal overflow observed, large controls, separate bounce spots, and held orbit. Real low-end phones and stadium cellular networks still need testing.

## Remaining accuracy work

Trace each park’s own baseball seating chart into section-bank polygons, register measured landmarks, verify deck elevations/aisles and explicit row/seat progression, date netting/fence renovations, and validate section predictions against independently reviewed video. Finish Seattle source/landing validation, then Fenway and Oracle, and repair the eleven missing-outfield parks; do not release their current models as precise seat guides.

Recorded HR status is never changed by a failed model fit. Foul pitch identity is available, but accepted physical foul landing observations remain a separate database. Missing outcomes do not receive guessed dots.
