# Seat colors: source audit and appearance review

Checked 2026-10-04. Official guide pages and lightweight reference photographs were inspected for all 30 current default MLB home venues. Fourteen parks have at least one visible qualitative chair-color family; fifteen photographs leave chair colors unresolved, and Cleveland has a renovation/photo mismatch. Photograph capture dates are unknown. No park has every current seating bank visually verified.

All 29 available original models were inspected individually and their SHA256 hashes verified. Twenty-eight contain chromatic, normalized `UNSIGNED_SHORT VEC4 COLOR_0` data; all present color accessors passed this audit. Miami uses texture-atlas materials without `COLOR_0`. Sacramento has no compatible current source model; Oakland was excluded. This is a bounded binary color inventory, without a geometry decoder, texture decoding, Chrome or model rendering.

The white strips in these models are often concrete seating terraces with no individual chair geometry. Existing source colors are preserved. A whole-material tint would also color stairs, aisles and fixtures. Ticket-chart legends and team logos do not establish physical seat colors.

**Seattle and Boston now have configured cosmetic row appearances.** Seattle uses representative green strips; Boston separates red boxes/pavilion display, green bleachers and a historic blue grandstand display family. The reviewed four-corner treads now receive a muted gray display finish beneath the chairs, removing the bright white floor bands within those row footprints. Stair aisles, exterior structure, source materials and the original concrete geometry remain intact; the finish does not change collision surfaces or landing coordinates. Fenway's exact current blue-grandstand boundary remains unverified. Browser visual QA remains pending because of the reported Chrome crashes.

The floor and chair display shares one draw call and one shader. Solid tread faces draw before the chair-gap faces, with matching geometric winding for correct lighting. Each tread is inset into its recorded convex footprint and lifted 8 mm for display only, using every original corner's elevation. Six triangles per row use 1,351,944 bytes for Seattle and 1,301,256 bytes for Boston, a 264-byte-per-row increase with no new texture, worker, shadow, animation or collision tree. The chosen gray is a visual finish, not a measured physical paint color. Other parks await source-footprint review; no blanket material tint was applied.

The [compact public audit](assets/data/seat-color-audit.json) records per-park evidence and treatment status. Enabled chair-face masks: **0**. Certified seat mappings: **0**. No surveyed section/row/seat identities or exact paint RGB are claimed. Other parks still await cosmetic treatments or registered chair surfaces.

## Park-by-park status

"Partial" means a color family was visible in a limited bank, not that all seats or the model were validated. Every row links an official guide and the inspected 640 px reference. Supplemental user photographs support Boston and Seattle; their capture dates and exact seat identities remain unknown.

## Audit artifacts and resource limits

- `data/qa-v0.18/seat-colors/all-park-visual-color-review.json`: all 30 guide/photo inspections, observed banks, photo histories, uncertainty and qualitative evidence. Thirty retained 640 px JPEG references total about 2.06 MB in the diagnostic folder; they are not loaded by the website.
- `data/qa-v0.18/seat-colors/all-park-source-color-inventory.json`: original model hashes, accessor metadata and streaming color histograms. It reads one file at a time, uses buffers of at most 4 MiB and stops below the configured RAM floor. Histogram channels are glTF linear values, not measured sRGB paint colors.
- `data/qa-v0.18/seat-colors/SEA-seat-appearance-review.json` and `BOS-seat-appearance-review.json`: cosmetic bank/footprint reviews. Source geometry and landing collision remain unchanged. Browser visual QA is pending.

## Gate for completing each park

1. Obtain current empty-chair views for every distinct bank, premium furniture, marker chair and bench area. Record capture dates or uncertainty, section labels and viewing directions.
2. Resolve renovation/model edition differences. Cleveland's older green-seat guide photograph cannot verify the current blue conversion. Toronto needs post-renovation bank review; Tropicana needs its repaired 2026 edition checked. Use current Globe Life Field and Sacramento references, excluding former home venues.
3. Register chair faces, texture islands or representative row appearances against exact source and variant hashes. Keep cosmetic rows separate from physical seat IDs and landing geometry.
4. Verify that concrete, stairs, aisles, rails, netting, walls and screens retain their source appearance. Preserve real row gaps and exclude roofs or concourses from seat treatments.
5. Compare daylight and shadow references. Check multi-color and marker exceptions separately: Fenway red/green/historic blue, Dodgers tier families, Coors purple marker row, Cardinals red/green banks and White Sox blue commemorative chairs.
6. Review close and distant desktop/mobile views within bounded draw-call and geometry budgets. Avoid per-chair scene objects, added lights or continuous idle rendering; suspend/offload work when the model is hidden.

The evidence registry remains `renderReady: false` for all 30 parks, and chair-face material masks remain empty. The two cosmetic row configurations improve presentation without certifying current seating inventories. These source checks do not certify section, row, seat, netting or ball-landing positions, and they do not represent a completed visual QA pass of every model.
