Use visible section signs, aisle boundaries and landmarks. Record first contact separately from the final destination, especially when a ball hits a net.

Video-confirmed coarse foul zones

FiveThirtyEight’s 2019 sample has 906 events. Only its camera-confirmed zones are retained in our seed file. These records lack pitch identities and seating sections, so they do not enter seat rankings.

A ten-season review workflow

Work park by park, beginning with 2017–2026. Review publicly available clips, keep unseen landings unknown, record nets by year, and have a second reviewer check section identifications before publishing.
